Ballhawks U-17s find silver lining in Hamilton

The Chatham Ballhawks under-17 women’s team won silver medals at the McGregor Cup volleyball tournament in Hamilton on the weekend.
The Ballhawks finished third in pool play with a 1-3 record.
Chatham was swept by the Halton Hurricanes (22-25, 17-25) and split with the Oakville Thunder (19-25, 25-22).
In pre-quarters, the Ballhawks toppled London Forest City (34-32, 25-17), and then knocked off the Georgetown Impact, who finished first in their pool (25-15, 25-22), in the quarterfinal.
The Ballhawks gained revenge against the Thunder, winning the semifinal in three games (25-18, 22-25, 15-10).
However, the Ballhawks ran out of gas in the championship final as they were swept by the Kitchener-Waterloo Preds (10-25, 22-25).
