Vanderiviere strings together pair of hits at South Buxton

It was hard to tell what made Eric Vanderiviere happier – winning his fifth Windride Transportation Sport Stocks feature of the season or making an impressive debut in the Dover Sanitation UMP Late Models.

 “It was exciting to do both, I had a blast in Brad’s car,” Vanderiviere said.

Vanderiviere hopes his strong fourth-place showing in Brad Authier’s backup car in the Late Model feature will land him another ride, perhaps in the season-ending Shootout on Sept. 25.

 “We’ll see how he thinks I made out tonight,” said Vanderiviere.

Authier wasn’t able to see how Vanderiviere was doing himself – he was too busy winning the Late Model feature race for a fourth time in 2010.

Ballhawks volleyball sets tryout dates

Tractors and Trucks take over South Buxton on Friday

Pain Court's Orville Couture opened the season with six straight wins in the 9300 and 10000 Super Farm Tractors divisions on the SWOTPA tour.

The Southwestern Ontario Tractor Pullers Association pulls into South Buxton Raceway on Friday for the second annual Tractor Pull.

Seven classes of tractors and four divisions of trucks will take part in the competition, which drew a full house last summer.

The admission is $10 for all fans 16 years and over; $5 for fans ages 6-15; while 5-and-under will be admitted free.

Authier, Vanderiviere, Brosseau, McNally Mid-Season champs

The rain stayed away from South Buxton Raceway on Saturday allowing four drivers to reign over the track on Mid-Season Championship Night.

Chatham drivers Brad Authier and Eric Vanderiviere both took advantage of their outside front-row starting positions to win the Dover Sanitation UMP Late Models and Windride Transportation Services Sport Stocks mid-season championship races, respectively.

Merlin’s Joe Brosseau went from fourth to the lead in one lap to win the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds feature while Nate McNally of Charing Cross survived a four-car pileup involving the leaders to win the Four Seasons Driver Education Comp 4 feature.

Pirates win first-place showdown against Brewers

piratesbrewers logo large no millwakeThe Port Lambton Pirates outlasted the Maple City Brewers 10-7 in a first-place showdown in the Western Counties Senior Baseball League on Saturday in Port Lambton.

The win pads the Pirates’ first-place record to 9-3 while the Brewers fell to 9-5.

Red Devils’ season ends with 22-4 loss to Spartans

Red DevilsAfter their playoff hopes came to a disappointing end a night earlier, the Wallaceburg Red Devils had little left in the tank for their season finale on Saturday in Merriton.

The Red Devils closed the books on their 2010 season with a crushing 22-4 loss to the St. Catharines Spartans in the Ontario Lacrosse Association Jr. ‘B’ League.

A 12-8 loss to the Far West division winning Windsor Clippers on Friday eliminated the Red Devils from the playoffs.
